Pitfall 1 — Long Screw Damage (LSD) Inserting a longer screw into a short screw post on iPhone logic boards drives the screw body directly into underlying PCB trace layers, severing internal communication tracks. Always map and organize screws during disassembly.

Pitfall 2 — Excessive Heat & Underfill Pop Applying hot air rework temperatures (>350°C) without proper board pre-heating or heat shield shielding causes underfilled RAM or CPU epoxy to expand rapidly, popping solder balls out from beneath adjacent chips and creating massive internal shorts.

Pitfall 3 — Disconnecting Flex Cables Under Power Never disconnect or reconnect display, touch, or camera flex connectors while the battery is plugged in. Inrush voltage on backlight anode lines (up to 35V) will jump to ground pins, instantly burning backlight driver ICs or SOC filtering caps.
